We do own the building we are in, we used to use the vinyl tarps for events in the gym, but we found them to be a lot of headache to keep clean. Right now our facilities manager has the floor coated with several extra layers of wax which he says should protect for now. We are looking at a clear expoxy coating for the long term. I think if the epoxy won't work we will probably have to go back to the tarps. you are welcome for the link, I enjoy reading your blog.

Our church in Chicago met in the gym (they still do, though they outgrew it by adding a second service) of the old Catholic high school that they bought. Every Sunday one of the Care Groups would do the set up. We had large vinyl "tarps" that we would put down to protect the floor. This is my first time hitting your site (thanks for the link in the sidebar!!), so I didn't read enough to know if you own the building you're in or if you lease it. If you own it, you may want to look at a way to protect that beautiful floor you've got there!
