OrthodoxSermons.org 2.0 Wish List
Posted by Andrew Mitry under Web/Tech
By God’s grace, OrthodoxSermons.org is proud to report that it’s library has now exceeded over 1,000 sermons in less than 2 years with many more to come. Thank you to all have contributed sermons and to all who have helped support this website. You are helping spread God’s word to all the ends of the earth!
We have now begun planning for OrthodoxSermons.org 2.0, a complete redesign which hopefully will be easier to use with better search, categorization and many more features. We would love your feedback on how we can improve the site and what you would like to see in the next version.  Please leave a comment with your thoughts.

Hey I think you should put sermons from the Bishops from the HS retreats. =]

Im sorry, & also from any Abouna that talked in the retreat. That would be very helpful and it would even reach out to many youth. Also, i think the front page should have less of the things like ‘New direct upload feature’ or the journey through out holy week and things like that.

Although the webite is already super amazing, here is some of my feedback..I don’t know if this would be possible because I dont know anything about computers but since this is a wish list; if you could use a search engine that seeped through the audio, that would be amazing..if not maybe then if you can provide mre information about those sermons that don’t have an attached handout..also it would be neat to have like a question and answer thing..also maybe a page with resources like online books, other spiritual websites, etc..I hope this feedback helps out!

i like amys ideas alot. i think it would be neat to also have some resources in PDF files to search through. that way anyone who is learning about the faith can have say Pope Shenoudas writings, Fr. Malaty..etc. then you have audio sermons AND writings in which one can search and learn all about orthodoxy! again thank you for this site, it has been such a blessing!

This is such a wonderful site - thankyou. We are Australian converts to Coptic Orthodoxy and we simply love this service. The biggest problem we have experienced with “over 1000 sermons now available” is that we have trouble finding sermons specific to particular days/cycles of the Church year. With the new website would it possible to include a calender or search facility that could be used to direct us to the most relevant sermons for that day/week. We thought this might be helpful to those of us who are still learning about the seasons and cycles of our beautiful Church. This idea is similar to the system used on the ekatamarous. If the sermons could be accessed in this manner it would be a great blessing. Thankyou.

Dear Sarah, it is great to hear that this site is being used to help converts and that you are benefiting from it. One thing that can help with the cycles of the church is the category called “Sermons on the Sunday Gospels & Church Feasts.” This category is broken up into church seasons and cycles which should help you a lot. Also, the dates and gospel readings are posted within the sermon also which should help. There is also a category for “Lenten/Passion Themes & Holy Week.” I hope this helps a little bit and definitely with the new site you can expect much better categorization and tagging. Thanks for you support and God be with you.

This website has been a great blessing to our spiritual life. I cannt express enough how grateful i am for it. I feel that the search facility can be further enhanced to help novice users find what they need. As an example, it could be a lot simpler to find a sermon to help to cope with death in the family. Thanks again for a great & wonderful job you are doing. God bless.

God bless your work, here are my suggestions:
1-Create an English folder and an Arabic folder and start gathering Arabic sermons as well, Pope Shenouda’s Arabic sermons are amazing and since the site is called “Orthodox Sermons”, it should have both since a lot of topics are still not covered in English and there is a need to have all sermons in the same site.
2-The search function using Google is not working very well and you end up spending more time to locate sermons using it.
3-We should be able to get to Bishiop Angaelos for example by clicking on his picture on the top and this is not working 100%.
God Bless you again for all your efforts which is really needed to have one source for sermons instead of having to go through searching 10’s of websites looking for sermons.
